Edo Election: I’m Being Closely Policed, Wike Alleges, Says Hotel Besieged By Security Operatives

By Lucky Uwakina (AGENDAWATCHDOG) – Ahead of the Governorship Election in Edo State, Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, on Friday, alerted the public of an alleged siege to his hotel in Benin City by security operatives, meant to restrict his movement.

Wike, while disclosing this to Channels TV, said that the police laid siege to his hotel after he refused to obey an order by the Inspector General of police to immediately leave Benin City on the grounds that he was a security risk.

According to Wike, he was in the state to monitor the election on behalf of his party, as as the Chairman of the National Campaign Council (of the PDP), and would not leave the state until his assignment was completed, regardless of attempts to restrict his movement.
