#Technology: Facebook Sued For Allegedly Spying On Instagram Users

By Amaechi Idumuebor (AGENDAWATCHDOG) – Facebook has again been dragged to court for allegedly spying on Instagram users, via their mobile phone cameras. This comes in the wake of plethora of press reports in July about facebook’s unauthorized viewing of Instagram users through their iPhone cameras.

According to a charge filed by Instagram User Brittany Conditi, on Thursday in a Federal Court in San Francisco, New Jersey, Fcaebook’s use of the camera was deliberate, saying that by “obtaining extremely private and intimate personal data on their users, including in the privacy of their own homes”, Instagram and Facebook are able to collect “valuable insights and market research”.

Facebook has denied the allegation, blaming a bug, which it said it was trying to disable, for activating false notifications that Instagram was accessing iPhone cameras.
