“Your Claims On Job Creation Are Hollow” – Ize-Iyamu To Obaseki

Olivia Isibor (AGENDAWATCHDOG) – The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the forthcoming Edo State gubernatorial poll, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, has picked holes in Governor Godwin Obaseki’s claims on job creation since he mounted the governorship saddle

POI, who threw this challenge during Sunday’s governorship debate, was speaking in reaction to Obaseki’s earlier claim that his administration had created 157,000 jobs since its inception, asking whether the governor was misplacing political appointments with real jobs, adding that the appointment of over 2,000 SSAs on social media should not be counted as jobs.

The pastor-politician challenged the governor to prove the areas in which he had created jobs, considering the fact that there was a glaring employment lacuna in the teaching profession, adding that if the governor’s claims were true, it would have reflected in the state’s Internally Generated Revenue (IGR).

Governor Obaseki, while defending his performance in the area of human capital development had claimed that his administration promised to create a minimum of 200,000 jobs within a four-year period, and that prior to  COVID-19, it had created 157, 000 direct and indirect jobs for Edo people.
