EFCC: “Summon Malami, He Has A Case To Answer”, Magu Urges Probe Panel

By Franca Joseph (AGENDAWATCHDOG) – The Suspended Acting Chairman of Nigeria’s apex anti-corruption body, the Economic & Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ibrahim Magu, has urged the probe panel investigating him, to summon the Attorney General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami (SAN), before it for cross-examination by his lawyers on the validity of his allegations against him.

Magus’s request was contained in a letter dated Sept. 4th, addressed to the Chairman of the Judicial Commission of Inquiry Investigating him for Alleged Abuse of Office and Mismanagement of Federal Government Recovered Assets and Finances.

The former EFCC boss, through his lawyer, Wahab Shittu, requested  for the issuance of a Subpoena on the AGF to appear before the panel to prove the veracity of his petition to President Muhammadu Buhari requesting the probe of the EFCC under his stewardship.

According to Magu, he should be given access with copies of the allegations against him, and also given room to cross-examine his petitioner, the AGF, in line with the constitutionally guaranteed fundamental principles of Fair Hearing.
