Russia Presents Samples Of COVID-19 Vaccine To Nigeria


By Olivia Isibor (AGENDAWATCHDOG) – Russia has presented samples of its COVID-19 Vaccine to the Nigerian Government.

The vaccine presentation was made by Russia’s Ambassador to Nigeria, Alexey Shebarshin, to Nigeria’s Minister of Health, Dr Osagie Ehanire, during a visit to the Ministry in Abuja on Friday.

Alongside the COVID-19 Vaccine samples, the Russian Ambassador also presented to the Minister, an aide memoire to assist the Nigerian Government in further assessing the vaccine.

Speaking after receiving the vaccine samples, Ehanire stated that Nigeria was exploring all knowledge in terms of therapeutics and vaccines in order to develop the capacity to work expansively, adding that  the country had been participating in several knowledge exchange and contact programmes with other research bodies and nations in a bid to check the continued spread of the COVID-19 pandemic.

While the minister thanked the Embassy of the Russian Federation in Nigeria for giving the country right of access to vaccine, following the announcement of its approval, the Director of Hospital Services Department in the Ministry, Dr Adepimpe Adebiyi, noted that the occasion was an opportunity to expand Nigeria’s vaccine production, adding that the technical officers will inter-phase with the #Russian team in order to strengthen the relationship between Nigeria and Russia.
