Kano Students In Egypt To Receive N257 Million Lifeline, Courtesy Governor Ganduje

By Lillian Ogbonna (AGENDAWATCHDOG) – 43 students of Kano State studying in Egypt are to be lucky beneficiaries of a lifeline of N257 Million for the payment of tuition and living expenses, courtesy of Governor Abdullahi Ganduje.

This was disclosed by Mr Abba Anwar, the Chief Press Secretary to the governor, via a statement on Thursday in Kano, in which he said that the students were sponsored by the state government to pursue various programmes of study at Al-Mansoura and October 6 universities in Egypt.

Anwar also reveald that Ganduje had additionally approved N48 million for the settlement of outstanding tuition and maintenance fees in respect of the six sponsored students of OCTOBER 6 University, adding that  the governor had pardoned the students, despite their partisan political leanings.

While further disclosing that the 37 students had written an apology letter to the governor, stating their regret at the manner they allowed themselves to be deceived into partisan politics by opponents of the governor, Anwar stated that the governor had also put modalities in place to upwardly review the bursary allowances for internal students, to ameliorate their sufferings occasioned by the COVID -19 pandemic.

He intoned that the State Scholarship Board had also been directed to commence registration of prospective students to facilitate payments before the reopening of schools.
