COVID-19 BRIEFS: Nigeria Records 216 New Cases, Taking Total Confirmed Infections To 54, 463

By Olivia Isibor (AGENDAWATCHDOG) – The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) announced via a late-night tweet on Wednesday, September 2, 2020, that the country had recorded 216 new cases of coronavirus (COVID-19), taking total confirmed infections in the country to 54, 463.

Breakdown of the fresh cases of COVID-19 in Nigeria, which are spread across 15 states of the federation, including Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), is as follows: Plateau-59, Rivers-27, Abia-22, Lagos-20, Oyo – 18, Enugu – 17, Kaduna – 11, FCT – 11, Ogun – 10, Ebonyi – four, Osun – four, Ekiti – four, Delta – three, Edo – three, Akwa Ibom – two, and Bauchi – one.

Out of the total confirmed 54,463 cases of COVID-19 in Nigeria, 42,439 have been successfully treated and discharged, while 1,027 fatalities have been so far recorded since the outbreak of the global pandemic.
