COVID-19 BRIEFS: Nigeria Adds 476 Fresh Cases, Bringing Total Infections To 50, 964


By Olivia Isibor (AGENDAWATCHDOG) –  According to the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), via a tweet on its verified handle, the country recorded 476 fresh COVID-19 cases on Thursday,  August 20, 2020, bringing the infection figures in the country to a total of 50, 964, alongside a total fatality figure of  992.

Breakdown of the infections, which cut across 17 states of the federation, including the Federal Capital Territory, is as follows: Lagos- 235, FCT-44, Kaduna-41,  Borno – 33, Plateau – 28, Abia – 13, Edo – 13; Rivers -12, Imo – 11, Oyo – 10, Kano – 9,  Kwara-7, Enugu – 5, Katsina  – 5, Gombe – 4, Ogun – 4, Nasarawa -1 and Zamfara – 1.

Out of the total 50,964 COVID-19 cases so far confirmed in Nigeria, 37,569 have been successfully treated and discharged, while 992 deaths have been so far recorded.
