By Olivia Isibor (AGENDAWATCHDOG) – Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, has accused Southern Kaduna elite of being responsible for the killings in the region, in their quest for monetary appeasement from the state government.
El-Rufai made the disclosure in a no-holds-barred interview on Channels Television’s Sunday Politics.
According to El-Rufai, the unrest in Southern Kaduna was the handiwork of jobless, greedy, lazy leaders who lived on monetary handouts in form of “peace money” from the state government, adding that the killings in the region snowballed when he stopped releasing money to these conflict entrepreneurs.
The governor assured that he would continue relying on security agencies to gather useful intelligence about the criminal behavior of these leaders with a view to prosecuting them.
