Edo Assembly Crisis: Malami Was Politically Biased, Acted Illegally – Obaseki

By Olivia isibor (AGENDAWATCHDOG) – Don-Pedro Obaseki, a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has slammed the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, for acting illegally in his response to the ongoing crisis in the Edo State House of Assembly.

Speaking on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily, Obaseki accused the AGF of being partisan in his handling of the crisis rocking the Edo State legislature.

For the newly sworn-in 14 members of the assembly, Obaseki accused them of engaging in an illegal act that was treasonable, calling for  their arrest for forging a mace used during their inauguration, adding that the authentic House of Assembly was the one earlier inaugurated by Governor Godwin Obaseki.

Last week, 17 lawmakers, including 14 members whose seats have been previously declared vacant, claimed that they had impeached the Speaker of the House, Okiye, and his deputy, Roland Asoro.
