Solid Minerals: Kogi Seeks Collaboration With Other States

(AGENDAWATCHDOG) – The Kogi State Government is seeking collaboration with other states of the Federation to harness its huge solid mineral deposits which are currently under-exploited.

This was disclosed by Governor. Yahaya Bello of Kogi, who was represented by Mr. Edward Onoja, the State Deputy Governor, in Lokoja, the state capital, when the Senate Committee on Solid Minerals and Metallurgy paid him a courtesy call.

According to Bello, Kogi State was not just a confluence state but a state full of collaborative opportunities, due to the abundance of mineral deposits it possessed, which were not being properly exploited.

The governor added that the state was, however, putting machinery in place to showcase its mineral deposits, prioritize it and make it a major source of revenue, adding that the state was seeking local and foreign investors in solid minerals mining and operators to come and invest in the solid minerals resources of their choice.

POTENTIAL IMPACT: The proposal by the Kogi State Government will draw attention to its mineral deposits, prioritize it and make it a major revenue earner.
