Akpabio Must Publish The Names Of Legislators Who Benefited From NDDC Contracts, Reps Insist

By Lillian Ogbonna (AGENDAWATCHDOG) – The House of Representatives is insisting that the Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Godswill Akpabio, must publish the names of the members of the National Assembly who got contracts from the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC).

This was contained in a statement by the Spokesman for the House and Committee Chairman on Media Affairs and Publicity, Benjamin Kalu, on Tuesday, in which he pointed out that Akpabio had alleged that federal lawmakers were awarded 60 percent of all the NDDC projects between January and May 2020, following which the minister was issued a 48-hour ultimatum by the leadership of the House of Representaties to publish a list of the benefiting legislators, but that rather than doing that, the minister decided to write an inconsequential letter to  the Speaker of the House.

Going further, Kalu said that the legislators were assessing the minister’s letter to the Speaker and will react appropriately if the letter was out of tune with the issue in question, with a legal suit remaining a possibility.
