COVID-19 Cure: Nigerian Medical Directors Slam Dr. Immanuel’s Claims

By Franca Joseph (AGENDAWATCHDOG) – Following video claims by Dr Stella Immanuel, a General Practitioner (GP) in the U.S. that she has treated over 350 COVID-19 patients with a combination therapy of Hydroxychloroquine (HCQ), Zinc and Zithromax, the Guild of Medical Directors (GMD) has repudiated her claims, calling them mere personal conjectures.

Prof. Olufemi Babalola, President of the GMD, expressed the guild’s angst at Immanuel’s claims via a statement in Abuja on Tuesday, in which he pointed out that research into the efficacy of the combination therapy of Hydroxychloroquine (HCQ), Zinc and Zithromax for the to treatment of COVID-19 was so far inconclusive, adding that “until the efficacy of this therapy was proven, all anecdotal claims such as the one from Dr Stella Immanuel must be taken with a pinch of salt.”

Babalola pointed out that while some studies suggested that it was effective, others felt otherwise, adding that Hydroxychloroquine may in fact be responsible for serious complications and even death in some patients, citing the case of the herbal mixture from Madagascar which subsequently turned out to be a hoax.

Following a two-day “White Coat Summit” held at  the Capitol Hill by a group of American doctors under the aegis of “America’s Frontline Doctors to address what they call “massive disinformation campaign” surrounding the virus, Immanuel, had at a press conference” in front of the U.S. Supreme Court in Washington DC, loudly proclaimed that the antimalarial drug — hydroxychloroquine, zinc and antibacterial drug — Zithromax, were potent cures for the COVID-19 disease, adding that she had treated no fewer than 350 patients with the combination therapy to good effect.
