EFCC Probe: Magu Will NO Longer Swallow False Allegations, Says Lawyer

By Lillian Ogbonna (AGENDAWATCHDOG) – The suspended chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Mr Ibrahim Magu, will no longer swallow the uncensored allegations against him, according to his lawyer, Wahab Shittu.

Shittu, in a statement on Sunday, said that the deposed EFCC boss had continued to maintain his innocence over the allegation that he misappropriated funds recovered from the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), which was not brought up by the Presidential panel probing the affairs of the EFFC under his stewardship, adding that over N329 million recovered by the commission was paid directly into the NNPC’s dedicated accounts through a transparent process that was validated by the NNPC, EFCC, and the affected NNPC marketers.

Magu’s counsel also repudiated the allegation of assets declaration and Mr Magu’s inability to clarify the basis for the exclusion of culprits in the alleged misapplication of N3 billion in the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), calling them orchestrated attempts to muddy the image of his client.
