By Olivia Isibor (AGENDAWATCHDOG) – Ahead the September Gubernatorial Election in Edo State, Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, has boasted that the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) owns the South-South Zone.
Wike, Chairman of the PDP National Campaign Council for the election, said this on Saturday at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, Benin City, during the flag-off of the PDP campaign for the Edo State Governorship Election.
According to Wike, godfatherism should be resisted by the people of Edo State, assuring them that any attempt to rig the governorship poll would be resisted, taking a dig at the former national Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Adams Oshiomhole who he accused of making “a u-turn to lick his vomit by presenting a candidate he earlier rejected and castigated”.
Lauding the performance of Governor Godwin Obaseki in the last four years, Wike urged the people of Edo State to cast their votes en-masse for the PDP candidate during the election.
Other PDP stalwarts who spoke at the flag off include, Uche Secondus, National Chairman of the PDP, Governor of Sokoto State and Chairman, PDP Governors Forum, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal among others. Other big name attendees at the event were the Governors of Bayelsa, Douye Diri, Oyo, Seyi Makinde, Bauchi, Senator Bala Mohammed, Delta, Ifeanyi Okowa as well as the Deputy Governor of Ondo State, Agboola Ajayi.
