#COVID-19: Buhari Urges Nigerians In Diaspora To Support Economic Recovery

By Lillian Ogbonna (AGENDAWATCHDOG) – Nigerians in Diaspora have been urged by President Muhammadu Buhari to support the country’s economic recovery plan due to the negative impact of the COVID-19 outbreak on the country’s economy.

Buhari, who made the appeal via virtual-video at the 2020 National Diaspora Day Celebration,  put together by the Nigerians In Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM), recognized the appreciable contributions made by the Nigerian diaspora  community through annual official and non-formal transmittals amounting to about $25 billion in the last three years, alongside their social contributions and skills transfer, but said that more was expected of them in helping the country tackle the ravaging impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic.

President Buhari  called on them to rise to the occasion and not abandon their country as it tries to overcome the economic strains brought about by COVID-19.
