War On Terror: Nigerian Military Frees 601 Repentant Terrorists

By Amechi Idumuebor (AGENDAWATCVHDOG) – 601 repentant former members of Boko Haram have been freed from the DRR Camp in Mallam Sidi, Gombe State, and reintegrated into the society. Among those freed are 14 foreign nationals from Cameroon, Chad and Niger.

This was disclosed by the Coordinator, Operation Safe Corridor, Major General Bamidele Shafa, on Saturday, who said that the former members of the terror group, since arriving at the rehabilitation camp, went through documentation processes to obtain vital background information, alongside comprehensive medical screening to determine their health statuses, while their DNA samples were also taken and biometrics captured by the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC).

Shafa added that the profiles would serve as background information to guide the experts, Local Treatment Team (LTT) to properly place the clients for treatment therapies and vocational training, adding that LTT are specialised experts in various fields of deradicalisation and rehabilitation therapies drawn from the Nigeria Correctional Service (NCS).
