By Lillian Ogbonna (AGENDAWATCHDOG) – The presidency has slammed the calls made by the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) for the resignation of President Muhammadu Buhari, saying the President would not bow to pressures from the former ruling party to throw in the towel.
Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, made this submission via a statement issued on Friday, in which he said that rather than resign, the president was committed to continuing his crusade against corruption, lampooning the PDP of conducting a campaign of calumny meant to scuttle the president’s transparent war against graft, citing the ongoing audits and investigation into several agencies of government, including the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC and the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) as classic examples of the President’s unalloyed commitment to winning the war on graft.
While describing the PDP as a party afflicted by an incurable ailment he called the “undemocratic pandemic”, Shehu said the PDP could not deter the government’s commitment to probing the serious grave allegations made against the Ministries, Departments and Agencies.
Shehu was reacting to a statement by PDP Chairman, Uche Secondus, which alleged that President Buhari’s administration, having failed in tackling insecurity and conducting a transparent and objective probe into corruption allegations, should resign.
