(AGENDAWATCHDOG) – Nigeria’s war against COVID-19 has been boosted by Siemens Energy Limited which has donated SARS- COV 2 RT PCR test kits and personal protective equipment, including face masks and gloves to the Lagos State Government.

The donated items were presented by the Representatives of Siemens Energy, Mr. Oladayo Orolu, Head, Business Development and Government Affairs, and Titilola Taiwo, Communications Manager, to the Lagos State Government and the Nigerian Centre for Disease Control (NCDC).

Mrs. Olajumoke Babatunde, Head of Unit, NCDC Lagos Office, and Jide Razak, the warehouse manager, who stood in for the Lagos State Government, were on ground to receive the items on behalf of NCDC and the state government respectively, with Babatunde lauding the kind gesture of Siemens. Chikwe Ihekweazu, Director General, NCDC, also expressed the agency’s gratitude to Siemens for the donations.

According to Onyeche Tifase, the CEO, Siemens Energy Limited, the donation was premised on the conviction that the company has a responsibility to support the governments and communities where it operates, hence its decision to provide essential materials that would boost Nigeria’s ongoing campaign against the COVID-19 pandemic.

Commending the medical establishment in general and other participants in the country’s COVID-19 efforts,  the company deemed it necessary to urge Nigerians to continue playing their complementary roles in stemming the continued spread of the diseases by adhering to all preventive  guidelines put in place by government and health authorities such as social distancing. Washing of hands, wearing of face masks.

The testing kits and medical PPES presented are aimed at complementing the commendable effort of the government in the fight against COVID- 19 and to ensure that the healthcare community gets the adequate support they require in this trying time. Our goal is to support the Government’s efforts to expand testing capacity and contain the spread of COVID-19 in Nigeria.

Since the entry into the Nigerian market 50 years ago in 1970, Siemens has consistently leveraged their expertise to impact Nigeria through various partnerships and initiatives focused on creating societal, economic and environmental contributions.
