NASC Appoints Olatunde As Clerk Of NASS


By Franca Joseph (AGENDAWATCHDOG) – Mr Ojo Olatunde has been appointed as the acting Clerk of the National Assembly by the National Assembly Service Commission, replacing the outgoing clerk, Mr. Mohammed Sani-Omolori.

Mr. Olatunde Ojo hails from Ilobu, the headquarters of Irepodun Local Government Area of Osun State.

According to a statement issued by the commission on Friday and signed by its chairman, Ahmed Amshi, the decision to appoint a new clerk for the national legislative body was taken during an emergency meeting held on Friday.

The appointment of other top management officers of the National Assembly, such as the acting Deputy Clerk, Bala Mohammed; acting Senate Clerk, Dauda El-Ladan the acting Secretary of the commission, Yusuf Danbatta, were also approved by the commission, while Patrick Giwa is to remain as the Clerk, House of Representatives pending his retirement in November 2020.

AgendWatchdog recalls that the outgoing clerk, Mr. Mohammed Sani-Omolori, whose stint in office was highly controversial, had claimed that the eight National Assembly extended his days in office following its amendment of the condition of service which increased the official retirement age.
