-.The 324 Nigerians evacuated by The Federal Government from the United States arrived the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, on Saturday, July 18, 2020. This was confirmed by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Geoffrey Onyeama, who had announced in an earlier tweet that the flight conveying the evacuees left the U.S on Friday and was due to arrive at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja at about 15:35 pm Saturday.

-.A group of northern youths, under the aegis of Northern Youth for Good Governance, have thrown their weight behind the Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami over the investigation of the former acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crime Commission, EFCC, Ibrahim Magu. Bello Hadi,  the National Coordinator of the group, while addressing the media in Kano on Saturday, called on Malami to leave no stone unturned in investigating the suspended EFCC Chairman.

-.The Federal Government has been urged by the National Council of Women Societies (NCWS), to protect Joy Nunieh, a former Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), from all forms of harassment and intimidation, while probe continues. The National President of NCWS, Mrs Laraba Shoda, made the call in a statement in Abuja, according to a NAN report.

-.Joy Nunieh, a onetime Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC),  has disclosed how she was asked to approve N10billion as Christmas bonus. Nunieh made the revelation on Friday in her testimony before the House of Representatives committee on NDDC probe, via teleconference, pointing out that her refusal to cooperate was one of the reasons for her sack.

-.Villarreal Santi midfielder, Cazorla will leave the club at the end of the season, heconfirmed on Saturday. Cazorla bid farewell ahead of the team’s final game of La Liga against Eibar on Sunday. He is expected to join Qatari side Al-Sadd, coached by Xavi Hernandez. The 35-year-old has enjoyed a brilliant third spell at Villarreal after two years of horrendous injuries. Cazorla previously made 180 appearances over six years for Arsenal and has 81 caps for Spain. He has also played for Malaga and Recreativo Huelva after first joining Villarreal as a teenager.

-.An Ebola outbreak in the DR Congo’s northwest is expanding, according to health officials, sounding the alarm weeks after the country officially declared an end to a separate Ebola epidemic which claimed over 2,000 lives. There have been 54 confirmed cases since June 1 in Mbandaka, a transport hub in Equateur province, including 22 deaths, according to figures released by the country’s health ministry on Friday.

-.The Sultan Abubakar III International Airport, Sokoto, has been inspected by Officials of the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) ahead the recommencement of flight operations. The inspection commenced from the entrance of the airport through the parking space, to departure hall and the terminal area. Although no official statement was issued regarding the inspection, journalists were however barred from accessing the departure hall through the terminal area throughout the duration of the inspection by the Airport security.

-.The Edo State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has slammed the purported vandalism of its outdoor billboards and campaign posters. The APC, at a press conference on Saturday in Benin City, blamed the Godwin Obaseki-led Edo State government for the acts of sabotage.

-.The Senate President, Ahmad Lawan, has denied nursing a presidential ambition in 2023. In a statement issued on Saturday by his spokesman, Ola Awoniyi, the head of the upper legislative arm of government described as childish insinuationsin some sections of the media that he was seeking to run for Nigeria’s presidency at thye expiration of President Muhammadu Buhari’s tenure.

-.President Muhammadu Buhari’s dedication towards completing the Second Niger Bridge project in Onitsha has been commended by traditional rulers in Anambra State.The monarchs who met with famous oil mogul, Prince Arthur Eze at the palace of the traditional ruler of Ukwulu Kingdom, in Dunukofia Local Government Area of Anambra State, Igwe Peter Uyanwa said the projects being aggressively worked on in the Southeast geopolitical zone is a testimony of President Buhari’s love for the zone

-. President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the naming of the Railway Complex in Agbor, Delta State after former President, Goodluck Jonathan. Buhari’s Special Assistant on New Media, Tolu Ogunlesi, made the announcement on Saturday.
