(AGENDAWATCHDOG) – The Niger State Government has reiterated its determination not to compromise quality and standard in the rehabilitation of Maje-kwamba Road in Suleja Local Government Area of Niger State by drawing the attention of the Contractor handling the project to certain anomalies.
The Infrastructure Monitoring Committee on inspection visited the site to notify the Contractor on some defects as identified by Governor Abubakar Sani Bello, who had intimated the Committee on the identified defects which have to do with side drains, stone pitching laying and the road shoulders, pointing out that they were not in consonance with the scope and specifications of the contract agreement.
However, the state government was satisfied with the asphalt laid, and urged the contractor to make necessary efforts towards addressing the anomalies.
The contract, which is in segments, is also expected to address ecological problems on the road, as the state government has said that even with the onset of the rainy season, it would not compromise quality and standard to get the job done.
Mr Paul Ubong, the Project Manager handling the work, assured that all observations made would be corrected as they were critical, explaining that the scope of their work includes stone-based work of 2 Kilometres, 2 Kilometres of drains construction and 4.3 Squaremetres of stone pitching, noting that despite the unfavorable weather due to rains, work was progressing at the project site.
The Infrastructure Monitoring Committee is headed by Alhaji Ibrahim Balarabe who is also the Chief of Staff to Governor Abubakar Sani Bello while relevant Ministries, Departments and Agencies are represented on the Committee.
