Bayelsa Guber: Gov. Diri Attributes Supreme Court Verdict To Divine Intervention

By Lillian Ogbonna (AGENDAWATCHDOG) – The Supreme Court ruling affirming him as the authentic governorship candidate of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, at the November 2019 Governorship Election in Bayelsa State, has been lauded by the State Governor, Douye Diri, who called it a divine intervention.

Governor Diri, while reacting to the judgment of the apex court at the State Government House Chapel, in Yenagoa, the state capital, yesterday, via a statement by his deputy, Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, called on the people of the state and those in opposition to lend helping hands to the state government’s efforts to develop the state, giving kudos to the Supreme Court for ensuring that justice was served, an outcome that had renewed the people’s faith in the judiciary as the last hope of the common man.

Following Timi Alaibe’s withdrawal of his suit challenging the candidacy of Diri at the November 2019 Governorship Election in Bayelsa State, Justice Bode Rhodes-Vivour of the Supreme Court had subsequently quashed the case.
