Upgrade Of National Arts Theatre Will Generate Approximately 10,000 Jobs – FG

(AGENDAWTCHDOG) – According to the Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, the planned rehabilitation and upgrade of the National Arts Theatre will create approximately 10,000 jobs during and after the restoration.

Mr. Mohammed, who disclosed this on Sunday, July 12, 2020, via statement by his spokesperson, Segun Adeyemi, during the formal handover of the national monument and the adjacent 134-hectare fallow land to the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and the Bankers’ Committee, said that the project will not lead to the loss of jobs, as was being speculated, but would instead create more jobs.

The Minister further stated that about 6,000 jobs would be created during the construction phase, while an additional 600 permanent and about 2000 to 3000 call-on/call-off jobs would be generated after the completion of the project

Mr. Mohammed sort to clarify reports that the government was selling the edifice, intoning that contrary to such unfounded claims, the government actually wanted to restore the facility at a cost of N25 billion under a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) tagged the Lagos Creative and Entertainment Centre Project.
