Magu’s Probe Proof Of Buhari’s Commitment To The War On Graft – Presidency

By Franca Joseph (AGENDWATCHDOG) – According to the Presidency, the suspension of Acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Mr Ibrahim Magu, and the ongoing probe of his activities by a presidential panel, is an indication of the success of the war on corruption, contrary to the views in some quarters.

Senior Special Assistant to the President, Media & Publicity, Garba Shehu, conveyed this via a statement on Saturday, in which he pointed out that  the fact that the president had the will to openly investigate Magu, who heads the country’s apex anti-graft body, indicated that there were no sacred cows in the president’s commitment to checking the ravaging effects of corruption in the country.

Magu had been suspended on the directive of President Muhammadu Buhari, who directed Mr. Umar Mohammed to act in his stead, following a petition by the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, accusing the acting EFCC boss of misappropriation of recovered loots and gross official misconduct.
