By Lillian Ogbonna (AGENDAWATCHDOG) – Governors, Ministers and federal legislators in the country are to receive special slots in the 774,000 jobs to be provided by the Federal Government, according to Sanusi Aliyu Kunde, the chairman of the selection committee of the extended Special Public Works Programme, charged with task of recruitment.
Kunde, who disclosed this in Bauchi, while launching the state panel, gave a beakdown of the allotments:
Governors -40 persons each from all the councils in the states; Senators- 30 persons each from only the local government areas in the senatorial district each represents; Principal Officer of the National Assembly – 40 slots in all the local government areas within his district; Members of the House of Representatives – 25 slots from the local government areas within their districts; Principal Officers of the House – 30 slots; Ministers – 30 slots from all the local government areas in the state.
According to Kunde, the decision on the allotments for state lawmakers would be taken by the committee, pointing out that the total number of persons to be recruited for the programme was 20,000, adding that the committee was expected to hire about 200 literate persons from each local government area to help with the monitoring and supervision of the recruits across the country for period the programme would run.
The workers will earn N60, 000 per month and would work between October and December 2020.
