By Franca Joseph (AGENDAWATCHDOG) – Mike Ozekhome, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), claims to have warned Vice-President, Yemi Osinbajo in 2017, about the corrupt dealings of embattled acting chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commisssion, Ibrahim Magu.
Ozekhome, in a statement on Tuesday, claimed that he wrote VP Osinbajo, who was Acting President at the time, following President Buhari’s Medical leave, to intimate him about Magu’s corrupt dealings, “with facts, figures and data, stating that recovered funds and property, were being re-looted by the Magu-led team, who were supposed to keep the gate of our commonwealth.”
The fiery lawyer also claimed that he personally confronted Magu on three occasions about his alleged corrupt dealings.
Magu’s ordeals commenced following a memo by the Attorney-General of the Federation (AGF), Abubakar Malami, requesting a probe of Magu on the grounds of gross impropriety in the handling of recovered loots and selling seized assets to associates. He was subsequently suspended by President Muhammadu Buhari and afterwards arrested and detained.
