COVID-19: Infections Will Continue To Soar, unless Nigerians Become More Responsible – NCDC

By Franca Joseph (AGENDAWATCHDOG) – Dr Chikwe Ihekweazu, the Director-General of the Nigerian Centre for Disease Control, NCDC, has warned Nigerians of further escalation of COVD-19 infections in the country, if people did not become more responsible in their behavior.

The NCDC boss, who was speaking during a media parley over the weekend, said that the increasing rate of infections in the country was due to wide disregard for COVID-19 preventive regulations put in place by the Presidential Task Force (PTF) on COVID-19 and the NCDC, a trend that is likely to continue if Nigerians refused to positively alter their behavior, adding that the easing of lockdown restrictions was not an indication that the virus had been defeated.

Ihekweazu enjoined Nigerians to continue adhering to COVID-19 regulations such as social distancing, use of face masks, hand washing, use of hand sanitizers and staying at home, if necessary, assuring that governments at all levels and the health authourities were doing their best to keep a lid on the virus.
