Fuel Price Hike: PDP Slams APC, Says Hike Is Inhuman, Unjustifiable

By Olivia Isibor (AGENDAWATCHDOG) – The recent increase in the pump price of Premium Motor Spirits (PMS) from N123 to N143.80 per litre by the Federal Government has attracted the angst of the former ruling and incumbent opposition party in the country, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), which has labeled the decision inhuman.

Kola Ologbondiyan, the PDP’s National Publicity Secretary, made the party’s views in the fuel price hike known via a statement, in which it described then increase as punitive, unjust, and inconsiderate, considering the economic challenges the populace was currently grappling with amid the COVID-19 pandemic induced lockdowns and restrictions,

Challenging the All Progressives Congress (APC) Muhmmadu Buhari-led Federal Government to show Nigerians the parameter used in increasing the price of petrol, which could not be in line with the realities in the global oil industry, the PDP lampooned the ruling party of insensitivity to the plight of the poor as defined by its penchant for imposing taxes and other levies that are meant to worsen the already pitiable conditions of the less privileged.

The PDP also asked the administration to cut down the over bloated size of its government, recover the alleged N14 trillion stolen oil money, reverse the pump price of fuel to a price not exceeding N90 per litre.
