Profiling Lagos State’s Free Academy For Youths In Creative Industry
By Franca Joseph (AGENDAWATCHDOG) – Contributions from the United States’ COVID-19 emergency aid to Nigeria is now $41.3 million (N15.5 billion), according to the Department of State in a statement on Thursday, in which it said the amount was part of a 1.3 billion dollar (N488.8 billion) COVID-19 aid so far made by the U.S. Government to 120 countries.
Breakdown of funds so far released to Nigeria, which includes 3.3 million dollars (N1.2 billion) for health assistance, is as follows: $34 million (N12.7 billion) for humanitarian funding for risk-communications, water and sanitation, infection-prevention, coordination and emergency food assistance; and $4.1 million ( N1.5 billion) for humanitarian assistance for vulnerable people, including internally displaced persons.
According to the State Department’s Statement, Apart from America’s COVID-19 support for Nigeria, it has doled out over 8.1 billion dollars (N3 trillion)in assistance to Nigeria over the past 20 years, with over 5.2 billion dollars (N1.9 trillion) donated for healthcare alone.
