COVID-19 Lockdown: Aviation Sector Lost N17 Billion Monthly – Hadi Sirika

By Lilian Ogbonna (AGENDAWATCHDOG) – The effect of the COVID-19 lockdown restrictions has negatively impacted all sectors of the economy, with the aviation sector alone being the worst hit as it incurred N17 Billion monthly losses, according to the Aviation Minister, Hadi Sirika.

Sirika disclosed this while responding to questions at the daily press briefing of the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 (PTF) in Abuja,   where he said, however, that the revival of the sector could not be hurried due to its highly regulated nature and the need to adhere to laid down standards.

Gong further, Sirika said that safety issues and concerns, air worthiness of airplanes, and safety of the flight crews were critical elements that must be guaranteed before the recommencement of international flights.
