COVID-19 BRIEFS: Nigeria Records 790 New Cases, As Total Infections Hit 26, 484


By Franca Joseph (AGENDAWATCHDOG) – The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) announced on its verified Tweeter handle, on Wednesday, July 1, 2020, that Nigeria has recorded 790 new COVID-19 cases, the country’s highest in a single day since the outbreak of the pandemic, bringing total infections in the country to 26,484.

Breakdown of the fresh cases, which cut across 20 states of the federation, including Abuja,  the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), are as follows: Delta – 166, Lagos – 120, Enugu – 66, Edo –60, Ogun – 43, Kano – 41, Kaduna – 39, Ondo – 33, Rivers – 32, Bayelsa – 29, Imo – 20, Kwara – 18, Oyo – 11 and Abia – 10, Benue – 6, Gombe – 4, Yobe, Bauchi-2, Kebbi-2, and FCT-65.

Out of the total log of 26,484 cases so far recorded in the country, 10,152 patents have been discharged, following recovery from the ailment, while 603 fatalities have been recorded.
