COVID-19 Assisted Fund: NGF, NCDC Sign MOU For World Bank’s N3.7b Fund To States, FCT


(AGENDAWATCHDOG) – A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed by the Nigeria Governors Forum (NGF) and the Nigeria Centre for Diseases Control (NCDC) for the World Bank N3.7 billion COVID-19 response support to the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

The MoU on the “Nigeria COVID-19 Preparedness and Response Project (Nigeria CoPREP), was jointly signed yesterday by Ekiti State Governor Kayode Fayemi (on behalf of the NGF), while the NCDC Chairman Dr. Chikwe Ihekweazu, signed for his agency.

According to the terms of the MoU, each of the 36 states of the federation, including the FCT, will receive N100 million from the N3.7 billion, which will be paid directly to their dedicated accounts, following their meeting the necessary requirements.

The fund is meant to increase the ability of the states to prevent, detect and respond to COVID-19 threats.
