Constituency Projects Tracking: ICPC Supervises Projects In Filiya-Gombe


(AGENDWATCHDOG) – Nigeria’s anti-corruption watchdog, the Independent Corrupt Practices and other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), paid inspection visits to health and Information Technology (ICT) facilities under construction in Filiya, Shongom Local Government Area of Gombe State, estimated to cost about 306 million naira.

The bill for the execution of the projects was sponsored by a former legislator, representing Kaltungo/Shongom Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Binta Bello.

Projects inspected include: three components of the health facility in Filiya community, with one of the components being the construction of a compact laboratory alongside furnishing which was awarded at N81.6 million, but later revised to N86.9 million; construction of a Tuberculosis unit awarded initially for 60 million naira, but revised downwards to 56.8 million naira; construction of a modern mortuary awarded for 50.96 million naira; and construction of an ICT centre awarded for 21.44 million naira, while the supply of desktops was for 90.56 million naira.

The supervision was part of the commission’s Constituency Projects Tracking Programme, an initiative that aims to ensure that funds released to legislators for constituency projects were judiciously utilized.
