Blame Corruption In The Judiciary On Politicians – Robert Clarke

By Bonita Onyeka (AGENDAWATCHDOG) – Nigerian politicians have been accused of being responsible for majority of the problems of governance bedeviling the country.

This was the disclosure of a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), Robert Clarke, while speaking as guest on Channels Television’s Sunday Politics, where he said that politicians were corrupting the judiciary, as the judiciary was not the country’s problem.

Pointing at the ease at which judicial decisions in Nigeria were being subverted by corrupt judges, noting the situation where two judges of coordinate jurisdictions give different judgements on political cases, Clark also faulted the 1999 Constitution for some of the country’s woes, adding that the overbearing tendencies of some members of the political class, who when they get into power decide to circumvent the system to satiate their personal aggrandizements, stalls the smooth functioning of the system.
