317 Nigerian Evacuees Arrive Abuja From UK, Proceed On Isolation

By Lilian Ogbonna (AGENDAWATCHDOG) – As part of efforts to evacuate Nigerians stranded abroad, consequent to the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, 317 more Nigerian citizens stranded in the United Kingdom arrived the Nnamdi Azikiwe Airport, Abuja, yesterday.

The good news was announced by the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM) on Sunday, June 28, 2020, via its verified Twitter handle, which noted that the Air Peace flight conveying the Nigerians touched down at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja at about 9:50pm, following its departure from Heathrow Airport, London.

According to the tweet, 175 out of the 317 evacuees would disembark in Abuja, while the remaining 142 people would proceed to the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, adding that all the returnees tested negative to COVID-19, but would proceed on 14 days self-isolation, in line with the directives of the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), the Federal Ministry of Health, and the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19.
