Ajoimobi’s Family Responsible For Delay In His Burial, Not My Government – Seyi Makinde

By Franca Joseph (AGENDAWATCHDOG) – Seyi Makinde, the Oyo State Governor, has firmly repudiated suggestions in some quarters that his administration was intentionally delaying the burial of the immediate past governor of the state, Senator Abiola Ajimobi, whose demise occurred on Thursday, June 25, 2020.

Makinde’s position was contained in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr Taiwo Adisa, which called the suggestions mischievous lies with roots in the social media, adding that the governor had no hand in the delay of the late politician’s burial.

According to Adisa, the delay was due to a request by the family of the late Ajimobi for approval to bury him on a plot of land at Agodi GRA, which is currently under litigation that was incidentally instituted by the late former governor, a request Governor Makinde could not help be turn down.

However, according to the statement, Governor Makinde had given approval to the family of the diseased governor to bury him in his Oluyole Estate residence, a decision that is against the established land use rule in Oyo State guiding land use in Government Reservation Areas (GRA) which forbids the burial of bodies in locations such as Oluyole Estate and Agodi GRA.
