Edo PDP Primary: Obaseki Cruises, Unchallenged, To Victory

By Olivia Isibor (AGENDAWATCHDOG) – Following the holding of the Peoples Democratic Party’s  (PDP) Governorship Primary Election in Benin City, Edo State, on Thursday, June 25, 2020, Governor Godwin Obaseki has picked the party’s gubernatorial ticket for the forthcoming Edo State Governorship Election slated for September 19, 2020.

Governor Obaseki was announced winner of the contest following voting by delegates of the party drawn from all the electoral wards in the state. Prior to the election, some prominent contenders for the governorship ticket had stepped down for him, making it a smooth ride to clinching the ticket.

With his victory at the PDP primary, Godwin Obaseki will now lock horns, for the governorship diadem at the September 19 polls, with Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu of the All Progressives Congress (APC), and contestants from other political parties in the state.
