COVID-19: FG Considers Another Lockdown, Condemns Violation Of Protocols

By Franca Joseph (AGENDAWATCHDOG) – Following random violations of COVID-19 safety protocols and guidelines, as prescribed by the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 (PTF) and the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), by political aspirants gearing up for the forthcoming governorship elections in Edo and Ondo states, and a large percentage of the populace, the Federal Government is threatening another lockdown.

Mr. Boss Mustapha, Chairman of the Presidential Task Force, PTF, on COVID-19 and Secretary to the Government of the Federation SGF, who disclosed this during the routine press briefing session of the Task Force in Abuja, on Thursday, June 5, 2020, declared that he would declare another round of lockdown on the country, if he had his way, calling on politicians to devise safer means for reaching out to the electorate without breaching COVID-19 protocols.

The taskforce also noted that the increasing number of COVID-19 cases in the country was putting pressure on the country’s fragile health care system, which has forced the government to establish Community Support Centres in high burden local government areas, due to limited bed spaces.
