COVID-19 BRIEFS: Nigeria Records 649 New Cases,Total Infections Now 22, 020


By Franca Joseph (AGENDAWATCHDOG) – The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), has announced the confirmation of 649 new COVID-19 cases in the country, taking the total number of infections to 22, 020.

Breakdown of the fresh COVID-19 cases, which are spread across 21 states of the federation, including Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), is as follows: Lagos (250), Oyo (100), Plateau (40), Delta (40), Abia (28), Kaduna (27), Ogun (22), Edo (20), Akwa Ibom (18) and Kwara (17), Imo (1), Kano (1), Enugu (14), Niger (13), Adamawa(13), Bayelsa (7), Osun (6), Bauchi (6), Anambra (4), Gombe (3) and Sokoto (2), and FCT (17).

The total number of discharged cases, according to the NCDC, is put at 7, 338, while 533 fatalities have been so far recorded in Nigeria since the outbreak of the global pandemic.
