#COVID-19: Agric Minister Accuses Some Big Businessmen Of Hoarding Foodstuffs

(AGENDAWATCHDOG) – Some big businessmen in Nigeria are hoarding foodstuffs, due to possible increase in their prices, according to Nigeria’s Minister of Agriculture, Sabo Nanono, who also revealed that the purchase of some food items for some Internally Displaced Persons by the Ministry of Disaster and Humanitarian Affairs, was partly responsible for the increases in the prices of some food items.

According to Nanono, people had the belief that COVID-19 could have a negative effect on agricultural projections, hence the hoarding of foodstuffs by some big businessmen.

Nanono also blamed farmers who do not release all their food products to the market at the commencement of every rainy season for being partly responsible for the inflation in food prices.
