Ghana Slams Demolition Of Building In Nigeria’s Diplomatic Compound In Accra.

By Amechi Idumuebor (AGENDAWATCHDOG) – Following the demolition of a residential building in Nigeria’s diplomatic mission in Accra, which has attracted opprobrium from different quarters, the Ghanian government has expressed regrets over the incident, assuring that such unfortunate incidents would not be allowed to rear their ugly heads again.

In a statement, the Ghanaian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, reassured the Nigerian High Commission in Ghana, and the diplomatic community in general of their safety, adding that Ghana being a law-abiding country would not relent in its obligation of ensuring the safety of the members of the diplomatic corps resident in Ghana.

Consequent to the unfortunate incident at the Nigerian High Commission In Ghana, on June 19, 2020, during which some armed men invaded the Nigerian diplomatic mission in the Ghaniam capital city of Accra, and demolished some structures under construction, Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr Geoffrey Onyeama had summoned Ms Iva Denoo, Charge d’ Affaires of Ghana to Nigeria, to explain the attacks on the country’s mission in Ghana.
