By Lilian Ogbonna (AGENDAWATCHDOG) – Nigeria’s Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Tukur Buratai, has challenged the country’s senior military officers and operational commanders to rise up to the challenges of insecurity in the country.
This was disclosed by the Acting Director, Army Public Relations, Col. Sagir Musa, during a media chat on the fallout of the consultative session between the CAS and the country’s most senior military officers on Monday in Abuja.
According to the CAS, the meeting focused on efforts to stimulate on-the-field activities of the military in the ongoing war against Boko Haram insurgency, North West banditry and sundry other security issues afflicting the country, with emphasis on the need for field commanders, officers and men of the military to increase their efforts in order to be able to curb all threats to the safety of the lives and property of Nigerians.
Ordering all Nigerian military personnel to work towards the full execution of the mandate given by President Muhammadu Buhari to put an end to the activities of terrorists, bandits and other irredentist groups in the country, Buratai demanded a transformation in the operations of the army, warning that complacency or excuses would not be entertained.
Buratai promised Nigerians that the military would continue to partner with other security agencies to keep them safe.
