Attack On Diplomatic Building: Nigeria Engaging With Ghanian Authourities – Geoffrey Onyeama


By Amechi Idumuebor (AGENDAWATCHDOG) – Following the reported demolition of a residential building in the diplomatic premises of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, in Accra, the capital of Ghana, by unknown persons, the Nigerian government has called on the Ghanian authourities to launch an immediate inquiry into the incident with a view to apprehending the culprits and preventing future destruction of property belonging to Nigerian nationals in Ghana.

Geoffrey Onyeama, Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs disclosed the views of the Nigerian Government via a tweet on his verified handle, saying that the Nigerian Government was “engaging the Ghanaian Government and was demanding urgent action to find the perpetrators and provide adequate protection for Nigerians and their property in Ghana”.

Armed men had reportedly stormed the Nigerian High Commissioner’s residence in Accra, Ghana, with bulldozers, demolishing a block of apartments on the property on Friday night. The building was being constructed to house staff and visiting diplomats to the High Commission.
