FG Releases N4.5 Billion To 31 Federal Teaching and Medical Centres

By Lilian Ogbonna (AGENDAWATCHDOG) – The Federal Government has released the sum of N4.5 Billion to 31 Federal Teaching and Medical Centres across the country, meant to cover hazard and inducement allowances for the month of April and May, 2020.

Chris Ngige, the Minister of Labour and Employment, who disclosed this on Friday, while briefing State House Correspondents in Abuja, the nation’s capital, said that prior to a meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari,  the Ministry of Finance had paid hazard allowances to 31 Teaching and Federal Medical Centres and specialist hospitals of the Federal Government’s service.

According to Ngige, the payments have been extended close to N4.5billion, as arrears of April and May were being paid, adding that payments for June will also be done when the ones on ground had been taken care of.

The minister’s disclosures came in the wake of a meeting between delegates of the Federal Government and the National Association of Resident Doctors (NARD) to resolve the ongoing strike action by the body’s members, which ended in a deadlock.
