Edo Election: Obaseki, Deputy, Get Waiver From PDP To Contest

By Olivia Isibor (AGENDAWATCHDOG) –The Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki and Honourable Philip Shaibu, his Deputy, have been granted a waiver to contest for elective office on the platform of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), following the governor’s defection from the All Progressives Congress (APC).

This comes days after the governor dumped the All Progressives Congress and consequently, picked up his PDP membership card at the party’s secretariat in Benin City, the state capital, where he announced that he had automatically become the leader of the party in the state, assuring party officials that he was ready to provide leadership that will lead the party to victory in the forthcoming governorship election in the state and thereafter sustain the level of progress, growth and participation in the political system.

Governor Obaseki defected to the PDP to actualize his second term bid, following his disqualification by the APC’s Primary Election Screening Committee from contesting in the party’s primary.
