Doctors’ Strike: Buhari’s Govt Is The Most Sincere In Nigeria’s History – Minister Of Health

By Lilian Ogbonna (AGENDAWTCHDOG) – Following the downing of tools by resident doctors in Nigeria, under the aegis of the National Association of Resident Doctors (NARD), following complaints of unmet demands by the federal government, the Minister of Health, Dr Osagie Ehanire, has called on the doctors to call off their strike action, saying that their demands were being looked into.

Dr Ehanire, who was speaking as a guest on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily, on Friday, June 19, 2020, repudiated allegations that the federal government was fond of regegng on its promises to workers, saying that President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration was the most responsive to the needs of Nigerian workers, compared to previous administrations.

According to Ehanire, the Buhari government is the most sincere and serious-minded in Nigeria’s history, as it had the penchant of keeping to its promises to the Nigerian people, asking the doctors to be patient with the government, as their needs were being given serious consideration, stressing that this was not the best time for doctors to be on strike, as the global health system was already overstretched by the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
