PDP To Take A Decision On Governor Obaseki On Thursday

By Olivia Isibor (AGENDAWATCHDOG) – Following speculations of Governor Godwin Obaseki’s imminent switch to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), consequent to his resignation from the All Progressives Congress (APC), the PDP’s leadership will meet to make a decision on the governor’s reported interest in their governorship ticket on Thursday, June 18, 2020.

According to sources in the PDP, the decision of the party’s leadership on Obaseki’s planned switch to their platform would be based on feedback from the governor’s recent consultations with some of the leaders of the party such as Nyesom Wike (Rivers), Udom Emmanuel (Akwa Ibom), National Chairman, Uche Secondus and Sokoto State Governor Aminu Tambuwal, prelude to the announcement of his resignation from the APC.

Godwing Obaseki, the substantive Governor of Edo State, had resigned his membership of the APC, following his disqualification by the party’s screening committee for the party’s governorship primary, a development that is reportedly linked with his irreconcilable differences with Adams Oshiomhole, the party’s suspended National Chairman.
