Governor Obaseki Could Still Return To The APC, Says Aide

By Olivia Isibor (AGENDAWATCHDOG) – A close aide to Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State, has hinted at the possibility of the governor returning to the fold of the All Progressives Congress (APC), following the suspension of the party’s National Chairman, Adams Oshiomhole, by the Court of Appeal in Abuja, which upheld the initial judgment of an Abuja High Court.

Following his disqualification from contesting in the Edo State APC Governorship Primary, by the party’s screening committee, Governor Obaseki had announced his resignation from the APC, with his deputy, Phillip Shaibu following closely on his heels, with speculations rife that he was considering joining forces with the opposition People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in furtherance of his second term bid.

However, following the suspension of the National Chairman of the party by the Court of Appeal in Abuja, and a growing sense of injustice withing some sections of the party with the manner Obaseki was treated by the screening committee, supposedly acting on Oshiomhole’s orders, the possibility of the governor’s return to the party should not be ruled out, as hinted by a close aide.
