COVID-19 Briefs: Nigeria Records 587 New Cases, Taking Total Number Of Infections To 17,735


By Franca Joseph (AGENDAWATCHDOG) – The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), via a tweet on Wednesday, June 17, 2020, disclosed that Nigeria had recorded 587 new cases of COVID-19, taking the country’s total infections to 17,735.

Breakdown of the new cases in Nigeria are as follows: Lagos-155, Edo-75, FCT-67, Rivers-65, Oyo-56, Delta-50, Bayelsa-25, Plateau-18, Kaduna-18, Enugu-17, Borno-12, Ogun-12, Ondo-7, Kwara-4, Kano-2, Gombe-2, Sokoto-1, Kebbi-1

Out of the 17,735 confirmed cases in the country, 5,967 have been discharged, having recovered from the ailment, while 469 fatalities have been recorded.

With the gradual easing of lockdown restrictions across the country, figures are expected to spike further, especially with the planned reopening of worship centres in some states
